Day 46 - Spring Fever

The weather was AMAZING today.  It felt like Spring so I decided to prune all my bushes in the front yard.  Most of which consist of crepe myrtles and some other bushes of which I have no name for.  I also have been itching to get started on my backyard garden.  I did some research online today and have come up with the wood frame structure I want to build, I am still unsure where to place it in the yard.  Lastly, I am stumped as how to keep the dogs out of my garden.  They usually find it their sole purpose in life to destroy anything pretty or green that I plant.   If anyone has any brilliant ideas I am all ears.

This is a picture of the raised bed I want to build. They have some suggestions on how to protect the structure from birds and flying insects but not hundred pound dogs.

Just imagine, ripe red tomatoes, yellow squash, and snow peas!  I can't wait!  Also, it will give me something to do in the backyard when the kids are playing.  Considering how much Jai and Laila like to play in the dirt, water and mud, they will think this is the next best thing!

Oh happy day!

Day 45 - Happy Valentines Day

Laila and Jai gave us their Valentines gift first, the gift of sleep!  Jai decided to be super generous this morning ans sleep in until 7am!  Once diapers were changed, a bottle issued and a sippy cup filled with milk, we gave the babies their Valentine's goodies.  Laila got "big girl" underpants, bubbles, crayons and an apron for arts and crafts.  Jai got his all time favorite gift ever...a ball!  He also got some bubbles and an apron for arts and crafts as well.
Not really sure why her pajamas are halfway unzipped.  Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason.

Very excited about the "big girl" underpants, had to arrange them "just so"!

Happy Valentines Day!  Love to you all!!

Day 44 - Pre Valentine's Day Dinner

Usually Manik works very late on Valentines Day.  Due to Papa John's heart shaped pizza's the stores are super busy. So Elizabeth (my sister-in-law) and I have learned it is wiser to celebrate before or after V-day.  There have been many a V-day night when Elizabeth and I have spent the majority of the night keeping each other company while waiting for the boys to get off work.

So this year we did it up right!  Unfortunately Elizabeth is out of town so it was Jason, Wilder, Manik Arjun and me.  The evening started with a king crab leg feast!  The crab legs were HUGE and soooo yummy!  I could eat my weight in crab legs, I love them!  The crab legs were followed by expertly grilled lamb chops, mashed potatoes and a fresh salad with dried cranberries and honey goat cheese!  It was delicious and perfect!  For dessert we had, of course, chocolate covered strawberries!

Arjun is an expert streamer decorator!

Tulips are my favorite flower, I just couldn't resist them today at the store!  Happy Valentines Day to me!

Little fingers checking out my chocolate covered strawberries!

YUMMMMM!

Wilder just too tired to keep his eyes open!  Jason is such a good Daddy!

It was a wonderful meal with great conversation, the night goes down in the record books!

On a separate note the weather was amazing today and the kids had a ball playing outside, I too enjoyed being able to open all the windows and get some fresh air in the house!  It was a perfect Sunday!

Jai and I took a stroll while Laila finished her nap!

Ran out of gas, so we had to rest and refuel!

Dirt, yum!

So happy to be outside!

Wrapping Baby!

Goin' for a walk!

Just washing the dirt down with some vino

Sir Saahib also enjoying some fresh air!

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Day 43 - Valentines Tea Party!

This morning my friend Keitha had a Valentines Tea Party! It was adorable! She had heart shaped everything from heart quiches to tiny cheesecake cakes topped with heart shaped rasberriesq2to a heart shaped spatula! We were in some serious debate whether Keitha purchased cheesecake cakes or if she did the heart shaped raspberries herself, turns out our little Keitha is a Martha Stuart in the making because she did them all herself! I wish I had the creativity to pull off such a fun party!

On top of the excellent theme and decorations I got to catch up with some of my favorite people! Since I have quit my job to stay home with the babies getting the chance to see old friends is such a treat. I have been counting down the days until the party, one, because I love Valentine’s Day so anything remotely related always makes me happy, second because I knew there was some great catching up to do and possibly some good gossip. Don't judge me, but I always love a little gossip!

As I was leaving Keitha gave me a goody bag for Laila and a little sock monkey for Jai Jai! I peaked in the bag and Keitha had knitted Laila the most ADORABLE valentine’s hat!! Keitha has made Laila a few other hats and Laila loves all of them. They are the only hats she wears! Jai even has one, it is a pumpkin hat and he looks so cute in it as well!

She may not look super happy but she truly loves her new hat!

So Keitha if you are reading this THANK YOU for your thoughtfulness and wonderful party tea party!  You made my day!

XOXO Heidi

P.S.  I would just like to say that my pictures did not due justice to Keitha's cute V-day decorations!  Her house was decked out, I got to busy talking and did not take pics!

Day 42 - What a Man!

Speechless, I am speechless!  My husband came home this evening while I was giving the babies their evening bath.  We chatted for a few minutes and wished each other Happy Eleven.  Manik and I started dating on May 11th, 2005.  Ever since then the 11th day of each month is always a good day.  We don't do anything huge or crazy but we are a little bit nicer to one another, a little bit more thoughtful and just make the day a good one.  I am not saying that every day isn't a good day but sometimes it is nice to have one day a month that you go a little out of your way to do something thoughtful for your loved one.

So this evening Manik came home and was just "happy", happy in the way where I could tell he had something up his sleeve.  I was blown away by him, when he slipped the most beautiful ring on my finger!

Let me back up a little bit...there is a jewelry store in Wichita, KS named Carolyn Sayre Jewelry.  Every time I go to Wichita I stop by and have my rings and earings polished while I check out her bling!  For the past three years there is one ring I try on every time!  It is a very simple band made up of alternating white and canary diamonds.  It is beautiful and I LOVE IT!  I would tell Manik every time I saw it how pretty it was and how much I liked it, but I could never rationalize spending that much money on myself.

So my wonderful and extremely thoughtful husband decided it was time to get it for me, just cause he loves me.  I am a very lucky girl and am blessed to have such a giving husband.

Thank you Manik, I love you...Happy Eleven!!

XOXO Heidi

p.s. sorry no picture, i couldn't get a picture that did the ring justice.  I will try again tomorrow when the sun is out!

Day 41 - Winterblues

I tell you what, these winter days  are killing me! And if you think I am bad you should see Manik. He is in his winter depression. It happens every year, the cold just goes to his bones and he gets really cranky! I understand his pain, the cold just does not agree with us Suri's. On the bright side the sun is out and Spring is on it's way...I hope.

This morning my mom came over to spend some time with us. Laila's school was back in session so I was thrilled to get her out of the house for the first time in a few weeks! I love my sweet, busy little girl but you know what they say, distance, it makes the heart grow fonder! So we got her all bundled up and sent her on her way.

The house was so quiet and I was just enjoying some one on one time with my mom and Jai and then I get the call...Manik telling me Laila was super upset and wanting to come home and see Sue Sue.  We decided that it was better to just bring her home and get totally over her ear infection and get a good nap and of course see her Sue Sue!

When my mom is here Laila wants nothing to do with Manik and me. We are old news!  Sue Sue get's all her attention and sole devotion! The feeling is mutual though!

The first actual smile we have gotten when she has the camera pointed at her!! Progress is being made!

Arjun's valentines artwork for school!  I loved it!

Jai LOVES Laila's car!  He is so funny he just get's in and sits in it backwards!  Too cute!

Sweet brotherly love!

Day 40 - On the mend

My baby boy is back!!  Jai is totally back to his playful, happy-go-lucky self!!  I couldn't have been more happy today to see Jai Jai just cruisen around the house so curious and busy!  Jai was also busy practicing his walking today.  He loves to hold onto your hand and walk around the house and later in the day he got more bold and started taking 6 -7 steps at a time :)  Mama is sooo proud.

Mr. Man's vocabulary is growing to:

"ohhh ohhh, ohhh" means oh I really like that and please may I see more!

"ba" means ball

"da" means the dogs

and every now and again we get a "mama" when he is feeling generous!

I know I am totally biased, but do they come any cuter than that!! I just want to squeeze him and give him a million kisses!!
