Potty Training and new challenge

Jai has begun potty training and it is a painful painful process.  There have been quite a few accidents and quite a few successes.  I was truly afraid this day would never come.  But alas it has and Jai is doing great.  He is still scared to go #2 but we'll get there soon enough!

As for my new challenge I have been very unmotivated when it comes to exercising.  So yesterday after spending some time on Pinterest I came upon a blog called Crossfit Mamas.  The blogger is a mom of four, she lists the workout of the day and adds a weekly challenge such as no soda or no caffeine for 90 days.  I love the idea of the workout changing everyday but also that it is only about 20 minute long.   My first workout was this morning and it was perfect, hard but I new it wouldn't last forever.

I will keep ya posted on the results!

Cheers,
Heidi

January - the 2 hour snow storm

Last week this snow storm rolled in and it was a sight to see. Usually it is just overcast and there isn't much to see but this time it was stunning!  The clouds were just amazing!

Less than twenty minutes later it looked more like this, the snow was more
like ice pelts coming down sideways.

And an hour later the sun was back out and the kids were ready to play in the snow!  Jai immidiately was trying to eat as much as he possibly could.

His looks are priceless!

And of course have to throw some of it!  It looks like a perfect snow ball and that is what I thought when I took this picture, I looked later and realized it was just a white wiffle ball :)

January - Best Helper

Lately Laila has begun helping me in the kitchen after dinner if there aren't too many dishes (breakable ones that is).  She loves doing it, and I love anyone who is willing to do dishes for me!  She is such a little lady sometimes it takes my breath away!

Happy 1 Year to Manik and Genghis Grill!

Manik is celebrating one year since he opened his first Genghis Grill!  The restaurant has been a growing success and the kids and I made a trip over there today to check out all the hub hub!  I am so proud of him for building up this restaurant and having the determination not to give up on his dream!

If your out and about today, all bowls are 6.99!  Enjoy!

This is Alison his manager, she is awesome and the only reason

January - To smart for her britches

To give you some background, Jai received a cake mix and candy cane to make Jesus a birthday cake on Christmas.  Me being a terrible mom did not make the cake on Christmas and have been asked by Laila no less than 20 times to "paaaaaalllllleeeeaaasse" make Jesus' birthday cake. For some reason or another I have come up with an excuse not to do it.

So this afternoon we were on our way to the grocery store and Laila was not speaking to me very nicely.  I told her that I did not appreciate being spoken to in such a tone and how do you think that makes Baby Jesus feel to hear her talk like that.  She was quiet for about two seconds and responded with...."Well how do you think Baby Jesus feels that you haven't made his birthday cake yet!"  I was appropriately chastised and in awe that she could come back so quickly with such perfectly  timed reprimand of her own!  Looks like were making Baby Jesus' birthday cake tomorrow.

Favorite iphone pics

A couple of weeks ago I had a scare and thought I had lost my phone.  I wasn't worried about losing my contacts or apps but terrified of the idea of losing over 1800 pics of  Laila and Jai as babies to toddlers!  So I finally took the responsible route and uploaded them to my computer. Looking through the pictures was a long trip down memory lane and made me realize only one thing, okay maybe two.  One, I definitely want another baby.  For those of you close to me, you know this is nothing new.  Second, I can't believe how quickly they have grown into walking, talking, opinionated and hilarious little kids. Here is a snapshot of my favorites...

Brown Eyed Girl

I love those curls

Laila was walking in the rain, and didn't have a care in the world.

Jai's baby smiles

Daddy and his baby

Such a happy baby

He still loves to be nungoo (Hindi for naked)

Arjun is now so big, I love seeing a huge grin on his face.  Those are much harder to come by now!

Jai and his big brother

Absolutely up to no good, the same still holds true today!

This was Jai's smile this summer, it sounded more like a yell in real life!

I think Laila looks like such a big girl in this pictures, so poised.

Love

Another example of his "smile"

He calls this shirt his fireman shirt.  He got the idea that the little logo on the front was a fireman, if you asked him what his name was when he was wearing this shirt he would tell you "Fireman".

Jai "hawk" Suri

Jai made the best darn cowboy round these parts!

Cheers!

2013 - Trucks know no bounds!

Jai and his truck/cars have become one.  Whether it is his "mater" tow truck or all his little sports cars they are always at least 2 in each of his pockets.  I have learned the hard way that I must always check his pockets before I put his pants in the laundry...or when we are leaving school or.... a friends house. He has become quite the kleptomaniac!

2013 - Blog On, and new room

As you can clearly see 2012 was a terrible year for blogging for me.  I just lost the motivation and didn't keep up with it.  But, 2013 is a new year and I am pledging to blog Monday thru Friday for the entire year.  I hope I don't bore you with our mundane day to day details but I will do my best to keep it somewhat lively.  I also plan on adding all the funny quote Laila and Jai say.  I already regret not writing down things in the past and I think this will be a great way to keep the funny things that come out of their mouth saved forever.  Wish me luck!

Now to my first post of 2013....

As we headed into winter I was really wanting to get the kids out of their toddler beds and into big kid beds. I moved them into a bigger spare room and Manik and I painted it a light shade of gray. Laila and Jai still share the same room so it was difficult to make the room not to girly and not too boyish.  As a compromise I decided to go with fun bold colors and use as much free stuff as possible.

I made their profiles on canvas and absolutely love the way they came out!  I wanted to do some profiles of elephants and rhino's for above Jai's bed but I was afraid it would be to many faces!

My mom sewed the curtains for me, they were the kicking off point for me, I am in love with chevron these days and have to find a way to get it into the room!  I picked up a magazine rack off craigslist and painted that baby orange, now it holds all their books.

I found the elephant at a thrift store and knew it would be perfect for above Jai's bed, it is solid wood and could give him a concussion if it fell so we have our handy man put that sucker up!  The letter "J" i covered in yarn and am really happy with how gives it some more texture.  I wanted to have something colorful for his wall and was thrilled when I saw "to the moon and back" pic at Home Goods!  Laila's and Jai's bedding is polka dot and in fun colors, just wanted their room to feel happy and fun.

I picked this up from a warehouse near us, sanded it, and spray painted it.  It is sturdy, and Laila uses it to climb into bed and it doesn't move an inch.  That baby is rock solid!

It may be hard to see but their head boards are old barn board.  My brother Jason put them together for me and I love the old and new look together.

I had a leftover barn board so I made a measuring stick to keep track of the kids height as they grow.  And my mom had given me a mirror, so we just popped out the mirror and spray painted the frame orange.  I am so happy with how the room turned out, the kids love it too!
