Day 271 - Day of Bliss

My wonderful and thoughtful husband surprised me with a spa day today!  I was in desperate need of some TLC and some time away from the kiddos.  My spa day consisted of a cut, color, manicure, pedicure and a makeup session.  Each part was wonderful, relaxing and it felt great to walk out looking better and mentally rested!  To top it all off Manik and I went out to dinner this evening and had a wonderful time chatting and laughing.  My cup runneth over!

Also would like to wish Wilder Risch Opie the happiest and most wonderful 1st birthday!  Cheers to you Wild-man!

Day 270 - Old Man Nature

This evening while I was making dinner I looked out in the backyard and saw this....Jai just rocking in his rocking chair all by himself in the backyard. Just calm and peaceful as can be. He just melts my heart!

Then of course Laila had to jump in on the action and be photographed as well!

Jai was just content as can be outside so when it came time to eat he just ignored us and kept on doing what he was doing...which was digging in the dirt, very typical!  While we were eating I looked out and this was what he was up to!  Just digging the rocks, probably watching a bug!  That boy loves his bugs!

Day 268 - New Family Member

The family has grown one more time, please welcome Bert!  He is very low maintenance, only likes to eat a few times a week.  He is red and purple and is very laid back, not much of a talker.  But of course, Laila does enough of all that for all of us.

 Fascinated!

Every Fall and Spring there is a sale called Just Between Friends, it is a consignment based sale...and it is awesome!  I look forward to it each season.   It is so nice to be able to get all of the kids clothes all at one time that are cute and super inexpensive.  The sale has toys, strollers, maternity clothes, books, basically anything you might need for young children.  So when I spotted this truck I couldn't leave without it!  Jai LOVES his truck and so does Laila!

Laila got a hold of Jai and the markers, as you can imagine it wasn't pretty.  She was quite pleased with herself and her artwork!

Day 263 - Muuuuunnnnch

Jai has become quite the talker in the past few weeks!  We love getting him to say new words and our favorite is asking him how much he loves us.  His answer is "much", but of course it is much cuter when he says it!

He had just woken up from a nap so he was a bit sleepy still!

Enjoy!

Day 263 - Flu Shot

I took Jai for his 18 month check-up on Monday and he is doing great!   He is 60% in weight, 25% in height, and 50% in head circumference.  I figure he is going to look just like his Bharat Chachu!  Do you see the resemblance??

So at the end of the doctor's visit Laila, Jai and I all got a flu shot.  Both babies were so brave and took the shots like champions.  All was well until a few hours when the flu shot gave me the flu!  I was down in the dumps and looking like it too!  Thank goodness Manik was back home and I was able to rest and recover.  Luckily the symptoms only lasted through the evening and this morning I woke up feeling normal again!  What a pain!

Day 261 - Daddy's Home

Today was the day!  Manik got home around 5:30pm tonight after a very long drive from OKC.  It was sooooo nice to have him home.  The kids couldn't stop hanging on him and Arjun was super talkative, which is a rarity these days!  Jai could not let go of Manik all evening, Manik ended up eating dinner with Jai on his lap!  I guess you can say he was very much missed, and most of all by me!

There were lots of kisses and lots of hugs!  Were so glad Daddy's back, especially Mama!!

And as promised here is a picture of one ugly mug!

Day 260 - Coming home

This morning Grandma left us and headed home.  We will miss having her around and I will definitely miss the company and help!  We had a wonderful time hanging out, putting the house together and spending time with the kids.  I am so fortunate to have such a wonderful mom.  Hopefully in thirty years Laila and Jai will think the same of me!

So as we say goodbye to Grandma we say hello to Dad!  Daddy is arriving home tomorrow, two days ahead of schedule!!  We have missed him so much and I can't wait till he pulls in the driveway!  I expect this is the welcome he will receive!!!

Day 255 - Furry Suri's

Just wanted to give a shout out our most loyal guard dog and all the joy he brings us!  Bo came to us a few years ago, he was a little hoodlum... funny not much has changed, he still loves to pull a Houdini and escape but his heart isn't in it anymore.  His old age and the comforts of the Suri household have softened his edges and he stays pretty close to home now.  My little Bo Bo loves to watch the bunnies that plague our new neighborhood and still has a strong hatred for the neighborhood cat.  But our Bo is a regal boy and most loyal.  He will look you in the eye all day long and you will definitely be the first to blink!

And while Bo is doing all the guard dogging Saahib is doing alot of this...

Yeah buddy I'm talking about you!

He does make a wonderful chair though!

Thank you to our two furry family members that we love so much.  They clean up numerous kiddy messes and give us their unlimited love and devotion.  We could not ask for more!

Day 254 - What's Cookin, and Bracelets

This morning I dropped Arjun off at the orthodontist to get braces on!  He is passing through one of many right of passages for teenage-hood.  He says his mouth hurts like crazy but as we all know that will get better with time.  When I got home I told Laila where I had been and she kept asking if she could see the bracelets on Arjun's teeth.  I have to hand it to her, bracelets on your teeth sound like a lot more fun that braces! I know you will be heartbroken but I don't have a good picture of his new metal mouth, I will try and get one tomorrow!

As for cute pics, Laila wins for today!

Day 252 - Happy Surprise, Happy Birthday Mom

Monday is my Mom's 70th birthday!!  My brother, Jason and his little boy, Wilder, flew from OKC to Denver this morning to surprise her and celebrate her birthday with her.  It should be noted that I am a terrible secret keeper (just the non-important secrets), I just get so excited I have a hard time keeping them in...but not this time.  I really wanted to see my mom surprised and boy was she!!  Jason and Wilder came in the front door while were outside on the back porch and I just had the biggest smile on my face and mom asked me why I was smiling like a buffoon and then in walked Jason!  It was perfect!!  I was so happy and so was mom! Nothing better than being with loved ones!

A perfect surprise!!

Grandma and Wildman

We made mom a divine quadruple chocolate cake and it was amazing!

Happy Birthday to you!

 Make a wish!

Hard work blowing out all those candles!

It was a wonderful day and night and I am so thankful for family!

Day 250 - George

Jai has become obsessed with Curious George!  He loves George and gets so excited when I let him watch it!  So a few days ago I was in Old Navy and came across a Curious George t-shirt and I couldn't resist buying it!  I think the fact that Jai loves George so much is so fitting since, in his own way Jai is just the human version of George...curious, always into trouble and happy as a clam!

Suri 249 - Whoa

This evening Laila and Arjun were playing and hanging out and this is a small video he got of her it is hysterical.  It goes to show its the small things in life, like getting a highlight to open!

While Arjun and she were horsing around he was getting her to speak some Spanish and it he kept telling her to say "Mommy, I'm speaking Mexican".  Not the most politically correct but pretty cute!

Enjoy!

Day 248 - Sweet baby and first big outing in Denver

Jai Jai is turning into a talkative little boy!  He is saying new words everyday and beginning to really interact like a big boy rather than a baby. I sweet baby is growing up tooooo fast!

Building blocks with Grandma

All I want to do is kiss those lips!!

 He looks so soulful

 Serious concentration

On Saturday we ventured out to the Taste of Colorado.  We got to watch a magic show that totally enthralled the kids and loved their first shaved ice!

She loved her turtle and kept asking me if it was still there, so sweet.

Day 246 - Lord grant me the patience

This morning Mom and I packed up the kiddos and headed to Church.  Usually, Laila and I go to Church  while Manik and Jai hangout at home.  Laila is easy as pie.  She is perfectly quiet and sits pretty still for a two year old.  I never have to sit in the cry room or issue warnings and such....but this morning we took Jai and it was a totally different ball game.  We sat in the cry room because he is just too busy too much "boy" to be expected to behave in the regular congregation!  I was ready to pull my hair out 20 minutes in and by 45 minutes both kiddos were being escorted to the car by a very frustrated and angry mom.  I hate losing my temper but losing my temper in Church is a low.  The one place where I should be at peace and instead I am ready to pull my hair out.   The cry room is almost the worst place to be, I think the kids feed off each other not to mention get ideas from one another.  They probably just look at each other and say hey have your tried this yet, yeah my mom hates this!  You should give it a try see if it works on your mom too!
God was probably saying yeah, here we go and now lets see how she handles this challenge.  FAIL!
All I have to say is this...
God grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.  And next time I am leaving Jai at home!

Day 245 - Hanging out with Friends

Since we moved to Denver we have visited our friends Chad and Lora a couple of times.  Chad went to college with my brother, Jason, and I have known him for years.  He always treated me like a sister and I have always enjoyed he and his family.  Luckily now that we live in Denver we have got to know them better, Chad and his wife are so sweet and they have two beautiful girls named Ryan and Carter.  Laila loved playing with all of their dolls!Chad's sister Mandy and her family were also over and again wonderful people!  We are so blessed to count them as friends and are so thankful that they have opened their home to us!

I didn't take any pics this evening but Arjun got a few with his phone.  They aren't great but at least its something.  Laila and Jai were occupying themselves on the back deck for awhile.

Cheers,
